  1. Our biggest shipping issue is dimensional weight. Some shippers (FedEx, DHL, LTL) will combine total shipment for an average weight that we can avoid dimensional weight. UPS will not average. None will cut a deal on dimensional weight if the whole shipment is lighter than the dimensional weight cutoff… which is a serious penalty.

We have noticed that US Customs kicks in at about 500kg per shipment and below that… none. Anyone know the story on this?

Our per kilo rates for non-palletized boxes with 300kg shipment (fuel charges, chinese customs and any extra Amazon fees included):
    UPS – 26.4 RMB (usually 5 days)
FedEx (Seasonal) – 26.33 RMB (usually 5 days)
    LTL – 21.86 RMB (usually 35 days)

Thank you for this – we are also looking into LTL. However what has stopped us so far is thinking that we then need to use inventory placement, which adds a $1+ fee for oversize item. For example if we are sending a 20′ container from China to Amazon directly (or through a USA warehouse), how can we use LTL without getting caught with having multiple warehouses?

    • why not just pallet ship to different warehouses. each shipment can be pallet or carton when you choose
